Parts of a Whole

2013, William Harris Gallery, Rochester, New York
Materials: acrylic, fabric, threads, wood, clear film and lighting box

“Parts of a whole” is a performative installation, which explores the relationship between the individual and the collective. About 1700 buttons, each contained a distinctive face, were attached to their corresponding buttonholes to hold the entire nine feet tall structure, which represents people finding their belonged position in a society. Individual faces are transformed into an array of sameness.
